Selçuk Erez
Former CDRSEE board member Selçuk Erez is a prominent Turkish physician, public intellectual, and long-time advocate for social progress. Trained in gynecology and obstetrics in New York and Houston, he returned to Istanbul as a professor at the University of Istanbul’s Cerrahpaşa Medical School while maintaining a respected private practice. Beyond medicine, he is widely known for his influential Cumhuriyet column and his lifelong commitment to civic engagement, including leadership of the Turkish Planned Parenthood Association, advisory work for the Mayor of Istanbul, and contributions to ethics, legal, and medical-history organizations. His collected works span thirteen volumes.
