Nicole Immig is Professor of South-Eastern European History at Justus-Liebig University of
Giessen/Germany with a special focus on the cultural and social history of the Southern Balkans and
the Eastern Mediterranean. Her research interests range from the early modern history of the
Ottoman Balkans, the visual history of the Balkans in a comparative perspective, digital and public
history to the entangled histories of labor migrations from South-Eastern Europe to Germany in the
1960s. Her publications deal with (hi)stories of migrations, the visual culture of South-Eastern Europe,
history of media and the periodical press and the Balkan Front in World War One. She is the founder
of several ongoing Public History projects as Merchants of Istanbul: A Serious Computer Game on the
History of the Ottoman Balkans and #Lausanne23#: an interactive historical Animated Roleplay on the
Conference of Lausanne. She is a great fan of new forms of science communication and education as
podcasts, serious games and e-learning platforms.
