Mihai Dragnea, PhD, is an associate researcher at the University of South-Eastern Norway and president of the Balkan History Association. He is editor-in-chief of Hiperboreea (Pennsylvania State University Press) and serves on research teams and editorial boards across Europe. He edits the series South-East European History (Peter Lang) and Religious Transformations in Central and Eastern Europe, c. 800–1800 (Amsterdam University Press). His research focuses on Slavic history beyond the Elbe in the High Middle Ages—conversion, religion, identity, kingship, and mobility—and on broader issues of Slavic, Wallachian, and Vlach identity and ethnicity in the Balkans.
