Kirsten Schoenefeld is currently the Desk Officer for Eastern Europe at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Berlin, overseeing portfolios for Albania, Kosovo, BiH, and Turkey. Previously, she served as the FES Country Director for Serbia and Montenegro (2022–2025).
With a strong background in conflict transformation and peacebuilding, she held key positions at the CSSP – Berlin Center for Integrative Mediation and forumZFD, focusing on the Western Balkans. Her extensive international experience includes assignments in North Macedonia and Uganda, complemented by her tenure at the German Bundestag. She specializes in strategic planning and regional dialogue.
