Hubert Faustmann is Professor of History and Political Science at the University of Nicosia, where he has worked since 1999. Additionally, he is the director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cyprus office since 2011. He was the editor in chief of the refereed journal The Cyprus Review from 2006 until 2016. He specializes on British colonial Cyprus and post-independence Cypriot history and politics including contemporary Cyprus. His research also focuses on Politics in the Eastern Mediterranean with a special emphasis on Hydrocarbon politics as well as the relationship between state and society where he focuses on Clientelism and Political Patronage.
