Evita Dandali

I am a social historian of the Ottoman Empire, specializing in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations, Koç University, I study the social, political, and economic dimensions of military institutions, focusing on the Janissary Corps in Ottoman Thessaloniki. I hold a PhD in History from the University of Crete (2025), completed within the ERC project JANET. My work has been supported by several fellowships, and my broader interests include early modern urban history, the socioeconomic role of the military, and gender and women’s history.
