Diana Mishkova
Diana Mishkova is a historian specializing in modern and contemporary Southeastern Europe. Formerly a professor at Sofia University and visiting scholar at several European and U.S. universities, she has directed the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia since 2000. Her recent books include Rival Byzantiums: Empire and Identity in Southeastern Europe (Cambridge, 2022) and Beyond Balkanism (Routledge, 2018). She has edited nine international volumes, including Balkan Historiographical Wars (Palgrave, 2025) and Entangled Histories of the Balkans (Brill, 2014, 2017). She is a Foreign Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and recipient of the Danubius Award (2022) and the Konstantin Jireček Medal (2023).
