Bogdan Murgescu is professor of economic history and vice-rector of the University of Bucharest. He has been Roman Herzog Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Central European University. He is currently honorary president of the Romanian Society for Historical Sciences after having served 2 terms as its president, member of Academia Europaea (since 2020) and of various academic boards. Besides his own research in economic history, he was active in various projects aiming to strengthen the contribution of historical remembrance to the democratic civic education, including the Joint History Project.
